Ambiguity and uncertainty can often be paralyzing thoughts as we live our lives. Often times, we are not sure what decisions we need to make or how we need to respond in the moment in order to best honor the Lord. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, John tells us that one thing in this life is clearly certain: We who believe in the name of the Son of God have eternal life.

The truth is that life sometimes take us in a direction we don’t want to go, but as believers, we can remain certain that we are always heading to our ultimate destination to be with Jesus Christ forever. While the apostle Paul was in prison, not knowing if he would live or die, he reminded himself that his citizenship was in heaven and that he was eagerly awaiting the Lord Jesus Christ.

No matter what your circumstances may be today, the truth is that you are on a journey that is leading you exactly where you desire to be: at home with Christ. Remind yourself today amidst the uncertainties of your job, family, relationships, health or money that Jesus Christ is the same today, yesterday, and forever. If you have believed in His finished work on the cross then you can live with confidence and certainty that you are closer to home than you have ever been before.

PRAYER

Dear Jesus. Thank You for the certainty of my salvation and Your selection of me. May I be reminded of Your love for me today and may I live with the eager expectation of spending my eternity with You shortly. Amen.
