Divine Power

An appliance is only as good as the power source to which it is connected. Even if your refrigerator, microwave, lamp or television is brand new and in perfectly working order it will not work unless it is plugged in. You see, it’s the power that runs through the appliance that enables it to function. In the same way we must be plugged into God so that we can experience all that He would have for us at any given moment.

Peter tells us that when we are converted that we have be given everything that need for life and godliness. By His grace He has made a deposit into our lives and given us access by faith to our all that we need from Him to accomplish all of His will. Since God is the author and perfecter of our faith we can rest assured that as we follow Him that He is able to provide what we need at any given moment.

This however, begs the question, why don’t we seem to have the power that we need to live the life that God requires?  James helps answer this question by saying you do not have because you do not ask (James 4:2). You see, just because God has made a deposit in your life through His Holy Spirit and has given you a storehouse in the heavenly realms of everything that you will ever need, you must call on God ask for what you need at any moment. Although He knows what you need before you ask Him does not mean that He will deliver it. It is through our faith that God will provide that we ask in prayer and God by His grace will provide everything that we need.

Perhaps today you can pray from a position of victory because Christ defeated sin and satan on the cross. Now from our new identity in Christ and the victory we already have we may approach Him with freedom and confidence so that He will supply everything that we need.

Thank you, Jesus, that through your death and resurrection I am a victor and a child of yours. I know that You will provide for me everything that I need to accomplish your purposes on planet earth. Lord, today I am asking for __________________________. By faith I believe that you will provide that for me and that you will be glorified by this request. Thank you, Jesus for listening and responding. Amen.
