Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.

Finished
Perhaps the most powerful words Jesus uttered were His last. By saying, “It is finished,” He was declaring that all the sin of the world had literally been paid in full by His death on the cross. Have you ever considered the gravity of this statement? Simply put, it means that Jesus Christ paid the penalty of our sin through His substitutionary atonement.
So often Christians believe that Jesus only died for the sins that they have already committed. However, Jesus died for all the sins the believer has committed, is committing, and will ever commit. The cross of Jesus Christ completed any further need to pay for our sins. Glory!
I want to encourage you today to rest in the fact that you no longer need to strive to please God nor try on your own efforts to stop sinning. Instead, I invite you to rest in the fact that ALL of your sin is paid for and that you can enjoy the privilege of being a child of God.
PRAYER
Jesus. I thank you that I don’t have to work hard to be made right with You. My belief in the fact that You died for my sin and rose from the dead is simply enough. Lord, thank you for reminding me that my sin is forgiven and that our relationship has been established for all eternity. Amen.
