“And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the man who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.”

Good Soil

When Jesus tells the parable of the soils to His disciples he concludes by telling them there is never a problem with the Word. The Word of God is represented by the seed that is scattered among the different soils. The challenge with the first three soils is that they will not accommodate the Word. However, when the seed falls on the good soil it always produces a harvest of thirty, sixty, or a hundredfold.

This amazing truth lets the believer know that the more accommodating one’s heart is to the Word of God, the more fruitful his service will be to the Lord. This means that it is not necessarily the amount of time listening to, reading, or studying God’s Word that makes a difference as much as allowing the Word of God to have His way with you.

How do you approach God’s Word? Do you crave it? Do you yearn for it? Do you allow it to have its way with you? The problem with the first three soils was allowing temporal ideologies to compete with the paramount power of the Word of God. Simply put … if you want to grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ, allow His Word to take root in every area of your heart. Every believer who lives like this will produce a harvest that surpasses anything they could imagine.

Start today. Read the Word. Listen to the Word. Hear the Word preached. Take notes on the Word. Make changes to align your life with His Word. As the seed of God’s Word begins to take root in your heart, you can certainly expect that a harvest of righteousness will begin to spout up.

PRAYER

Dear Jesus. Thank you for your living and active Word. Today I want to align my life afresh with Your Word. I desire to hear You and want my life to be a living example of what You can do with a life submitted to your will. Amen.
