And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

Great Faith

Growing up, I had always wanted to try sky-diving. On my 30th birthday, some of my good friends pooled their money together and bought me a sky-diving pass. The pass was good for one tandem jump from just over 2 miles in the air. I arrived for instruction, signed my life away, got dressed in my outfit, watched a video and then went outside to wait for my turn.

As the airplane took off down the runway, I was seated on the floor and the “expert” behind me clipped himself into my harness, joking that his parachute had only malfunctioned three times. My nerves were at an all-time high by the time the plane was at cruising altitude and it came my turn to exit. I shuffled over to the open door of the plane and let my legs dangle two miles above the ground. The instructor said, “You can let go of the bar now.” I responded by saying, “Okay, okay,” but could not get my hands to let go of the bar. Finally, I placed my hands on my shoulders, we rocked forward and departed the aircraft…head first! Certainly, one of the most thrilling and scary experiences I have ever encountered. However, for several minutes, my entire trust was in the pilot, the expert to whom I was tethered, and the parachute.

Where might God be asking you to trust Him right now? Please read the following verses and place your entire trust in Christ.

  1. Trust that Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation (John 14:6)
  2. Trust that the Holy Spirit is resident on the inside of you (1 Corinthians 12:13)
  3. Trust that the Word of God inside of you is your hope (Col. 1:27)
  4. Trust that you are more than a conqueror (Romans 8:38)
  5. Trust that God is for you (Romans 8:31)
  6. Trust that Jesus Christ will work out all things for you (Phil. 1:6, 2:12)
  7. Trust that the assurance of your salvation is real (1 John 5:13)
  8. Trust that God hears your prayers (1 John 5:11-12)
  9. Trust that God’s Word is true (John 17:17)
  10. Trust that investing in Christ’s kingdom has a reward (Matthew 25:21)

May God richly bless you as you continue to trust Him!

PRAYER

Dear Jesus. Thank You today for the reminder that I am Your child and that You are trustworthy. Today I am meditating on Your Word, and I know that You are indeed faithful and true. May my life reflect a radical trust in You. Amen.
