“The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

1 Corinthians 15:56-57

Victory Over Death

Recently as I was studying for a message I stumbled across this poem:

There is a preacher of the old school, but he speaks as boldly as ever. He is not popular, though the world is his parish and he travels every part of the globe and speaks in every language. He visits the poor, calls upon the rich, preaches to people of every religion and no religion, and the subject of his sermon is always the same. He is an eloquent preacher, often stirring feelings which no other preacher could, and bringing tears to eyes that never weep. His arguments, none are able to refute, nor is there any heart that has remained unmoved by the force of his appeals. He shatters life with his message. Most people hate him; every one fears him. His name?

Death.

Every tombstone is his pulpit, every newspaper prints his text, and someday every one of you will be his sermon. [Author Unknown]

This is why the ministry and the message of Jesus Christ is paramount for everyone around the world. The only hope for life in this life and the next is found in Jesus Christ who died and was buried for our sins and then rose from the grave. While all of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, the good news is that those who have confessed Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior will one day celebrate our Eternal Life in Jesus Christ.

PRAYER

Jesus. Thank you for paying the penalty for my sin and granting me Eternal Life. I am grateful for your love for me and desire to live my completely for you. Today I pray I would seek you with my whole heart and make you the focus of every moment. Fill me afresh with your Holy Spirit as I endeavor to allow you to live Your Life in and through me. Amen.
